At the Herman the Jester and Friends show, your child will have a place where their imagination and creativity can run free while learning various ways of communication set to their hometown of Kansas City.
Every episode will cover the basic alphabet while exploring art terms, art tools or art techniques of the day as Herman and Friends try to solve the riddle of the day. By exploring these different components of art, children will have a deeper understanding of the world of art, allowing them to only be limited by their imagination and not their lack of knowledge of the many facets of art. The art components are then used as clues to solve a riddle that helps explore the art word of the day from a social and cultural meaning.
Children will learn the Art word of the day in English, Spanish, French and German as well as American Sign Language. By introducing children to different languages and forms of communication at an early age, they will develop a social and cultural understanding of diversity. We have chosen English as the main language of the show simply because it’s produced in the United States. A Spanish version of the show is also in the works. French, German and Spanish were the foreign languages of choice to try to match the foreign language curriculum of most schools across the United States. American Sign Language was chosen because kids that have hearing impairments should not be left out of the fun and there is hardly anything at all in the market that caters to them. The expressive and passionate gestures that accompany the meaning of the hand signs in American Sign Language find a happy home within Herman’s world for all children to see, learn and understand.
Children of Kansas City and all over the world will discover the treasures of Kansas City that spread throughout Kansas and Missouri without having to wonder if there is a price for admission, what they do, or what’s it like inside. Most importantly, Kansas City kids will discover that this really neat place they just saw on TV exists right here in their own city. Bailey will go visit these great locations in search of clues to help solve the riddle of the day as Herman and Mandrid look on through their magic snow globe.
Kansas City is full of rich, cultural, and artistic history that is just waiting to be re-visited, or newly discovered. We have taken on, as our civic duty to Kansas City, to showcase the jewels and treasures of Kansas City to create an identity that can rival any city across the United States. At the Herman the Jester and Friends Show we believe it’s time that children that are born and or raised here, have a sense of homegrown pride that can only blossom from within their hearts by simply learning about where they live and the great things and places that surround them.
Your child will have the opportunity to reflect on what they have watched on the show and feel engaged when the characters asks them through their screen; “What was your favorite part of the day? The opinion of a child is often ignored or taken for granted; but in our show we love to hear what they think and have to say. We believe in fostering an environment where we encourage kids to have a voice and the confidence to express it. “Favorite Part of the Day” also presents a great bridging tool to encourage parents to connect with their kids. If the kids mention that the Fairy Princess was their favorite part of the day, ask them why? Was it the sparkles? The sign language? How they felt when learning ASL? With this bridge of understanding you will be asking your kids what their favorite part of the day was every night before they go to sleep. You will be surprised by what captures your child’s attention.
